This month marks the 41st Anniversary of the legendary Churchill’s Pub in Miami, FL.
Established in 1979, Churchill’s Pub is the CBGB of The South. They are a staple of the Miami Music Scene, our original home base, and the first room we ever booked.
As a young kid with zero experience, it was terrifying reaching out to them that first time… especially considering it was the first event I had ever put together.
I don’t recall too much about that first event other than playing it and being on cloud 9 the whole time…. I don’t think there were too many people there, or that it was anything extraordinary, but they were pleased and offered me a bunch more dates. It all just snowballed from there.
I’d like to take this time to express my most sincere gratitude to Churchill’s Pub for taking a chance on me back then. They provided me the freedom to get my feet wet and really experiment with events when I first started booking and playing. That opportunity definitely played a big role in me ultimaely diving headfirst into the industry.
At that time I was doing pretty much everything through Myspace, so after they revamped their site I unfortunately lost most of the early MD show logs from 2005-2010 (this is we have an archive and log everything now). The vast majority of the events I did at Churchill’s Pub were in that timeframe prior to moving to Orlando but they are still some of my favorites.
Some extra special moments include things like the Suis La Lune, Clocks Are Devils Halloween Show, Sohns, countless great screamo shows with the our dear friends Cassettes On Fire, and of course all the shows with the usual suspects (you all know who you are).
